WildWildWestCon 7

Hall Shots

This year’s Wild Wild West Con 7,  was fun don’t get me wrong but it felt like it was lacking the closeness, the cohesiveness, the family feeling, I had grown accustomed to, since my first attendance now three years ago. Wild Wild West Con was my first con ever and is dear to my heart.
This year felt a little thrown together. I got the feeling from the volunteers and vendors that things were all very last-minute and communication fell through often this year.

The theme this year at Wild Wild West Con was Robots vs. Dinosaurs, cool but nobody really explained it to me. All I know was that our elected president Gentleman Robot was there to lead us, and that there were dinos wandering around Old Tucson. I at the very end, during the closing ceremony, found out more of the theme. The complete message from the dinosaurs was revealed to not be a declaration of war but an offer of assistance. Instead, the dinosaurs have came through to our timeline to assist in fighting a greater evil to come. So glad I didn’t truly take sides since I didn’t have the facts.

Tea dueling this year was as exciting as ever and I got to see the hilarious conclusion of this year’s finals. I always look forward to seeing this event hosted by Madame Askew and The Grand Arbiter, as well as the rest of her Temporal Entourage.

This year’s costume contest and closing ceremonies both felt a bit rushed and smaller than the past 2 years. I missed seeing a performance from Osiris this year. The costume contest was judged by Thomas Willeford, Tobias McCurry, and Tayliss Forge, who are all makers of steampunk items. The most excited to be judging by far  was Tobias, who insisted on inspecting items closer, even when the MC, Count Chaos was trying to hurry them along.

Overall I had fun and saw many of my friends, who I only get to see at Wild Wild West Con. However, I was left feeling like something was missing. I am hopeful for next year when we join the Intergalactic Federation represented by Madame Askew and The Grand Arbiter.
