John Barrowman seems like he can do anything, he can sing, he can dance, he can act, present, and judge. He began his professional acting career while attending a course in Shakespeare, role starring as Billy Crocker opposite Elaine Paige in the Cole Porter musical Anything Goes.
He has since had leading roles in Matador, Miss Saigon, The Phantom Of The Opera, and Sunset Boulevard. He also reprised the role of Joe Gillis in Sunset Boulevard on Broadway, and earned an Olivier Award nomination as “Best Actor in a Musical for “Sam Mendes’ premiere production of The Fix at the Donmar Warehouse, and in 2002 he reprised his role of Billy Crocker for the National Theater revival of Anything Goes.
Mr. Barrowman has many television credits but his most notable to many is his portrayal of Captain Jack Harkness in Dr. Who, leading to his own spin-off series Torchwood. His other television credits include ABC’s Desperate Housewives, and more recently his character Dark Archer on The CW’s Arrow.
On the big screen, John portrayed the Lead Tenor in “The Producers,” a part that I would have never expected, but he sang of the “wonders of Bavaria” beautifully. He also had a supporting role in the Oscar-winning film Zero Dark Thirty, portraying Jeremy.
John Barrowman is not only an actor but also has been a presenter in several series. As a presenter, he hosted for the BBC series on Children, Animals and veterinary services, and a documentary titled Making of Me. In the United States, he also hosted for HGTV “Keys to the Castle,” and hosted celebrity singing competition “Sing Your Face Off.”
On BBC1’s Saturday night shows where they search for stars to be in productions, on London’s west end. He judged “How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?”,” Any Dream Will Do” and “I’d Do Anything.”
Mr Barrowman has now had 3 concert tours and multiple albums, and will be touring the UK again following Phoenix Fan Fusion this year. Additionally, John is an author with books in multiple genera such as an autobiography, Young adult novels, and graphic novels.
Even with so much accomplished he likes to say,
