Captain Marvel is the first film in the MCU with a female hero. She ends up defending earth in an interspecies war from a faraway planet. The story takes place in 1995 and Captain Marvel realizes she has lost her memory. As her earth identity Carol Danvers she is an Air Force pilot and ends up with Nick Fury and S.H.E.I.L.D.
Carol continues to find her past and finds out that she isn’t human but Kree. The story line keeps you guessing who the good and bad guys are in the alien war. She finally figures out the side to help and saves their race. She leaves Nick Fury a pager to contact her if earth needs help which is the lead-in to Avengers: Endgame. The character who steals the film is the cat Goose. He is the one who causes Nick to wear an eye-patch.
