Amazon The Boys at San Diego Comic Con 2019

Upon entering an electronics store we are thrown into the world of Amazon’s The Boys. A car is crashed through the front, the store is wrecked and people are yelling at us to help us cover up what happened.

The Boys tells the story of Hughie (Jack Quaid, “The Hunger Games”) who suffers the loss of his girlfriend at the hands of a reckless “supe”, super heros who work to fight crime, often managed by a company. Hughie discovers that there is no legal recourse for victims of collateral damage due to “supes”.

While still fuming from his trauma Hughie meets the mysterious Billy Butcher (Karl Urban, “Star Trek”) an operative from an unknown organization, recruits him to pursue vigilante justice. He does this with claims of “supes” being not what they seem.

Based on The New York Times best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, “The Boys” was developed by showrunner Eric Kripke (“Supernatural”), who also serves as writer, executive producer and directed the season finale. Joining Kripke as executive producers are Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen (“Preacher”), Evan Goldberg (“Preacher”), and James Weaver (“Preacher”), Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz (“Prison Break”), Pavun Shetty (“New Girl”) and Ori Marmur (“Preacher”), as well as Ken Levin and Jason Netter. Ennis and Robertson also co-executive produce. The pilot episode was directed by Dan Trachtenberg (“10 Cloverfield Lane”).
