Peter Mayhew, best known for playing Chewbacca in the Star Wars Saga, died at the age of 74 on Tuesday, in his home in Texas.
Even if Chewbacca could easily rip off your arms if he loses at a game, Mayhew was described by his Star Wars co-star Mark Hamill, as the gentlest of giants, standing at 7ft 3 inches.
Mayhew’s co-stars and creators of Star Wars gave their tribute to a man who pulled off becoming a legend without a single word.
In The Last Jedi and Solo: A Star Wars Story, Mr. Mayhew served in the capacity of “Chewbacca consultant,” passing on the role of Chewbacca to
Joonas Suotamo, who gave his own tribute to the OG Wookiee.
Since early on, Mayhew traveled the world, becoming a favorite on the con circuit, where he spent 30 years sharing the magic of Star Wars with now multiple generations.
